Some of the things we have planned:

A sensory station...the kids will reach into bowls blindfolded to find prizes. The bowls will be filled with peeled grapes (eyeballs), spaghetti (guts) and jello (slime).
Decorating a gingerbread man...if I can find them.
Pin the tail on the donkey...of course.
Pass the Ogre...hot potato
Lotions and potions...Epsom salt tinted green, purple etc. Kids get to fill their container however they like.
Bugz zone...kids will pick a capsule and drop into liquid to discover what bug they have.

We are gonna have a blast.

Day 132/365: AWANA Awards Night

Tonight was awards night at AWANAs and I couldn't be more proud of my girls.

This is Kristyn's second year as a Cubbie so next year she will be promoted to Sparks. I am so amazed that at age 3 she memorized and recited 30 verses and this year she memorized and recited 30 verses along with where they are located in the bible.

This is Jasmyn's second year as a Spark. She is excited to have Kristyn in her class next year. This is how the AWANA site describes the Sparks curriculum...

Sparks® curriculum is comprised of three handbooks. Each handbook builds a foundation of biblical wisdom through memory verse drills, crafts, activities and review of key doctrine and Bible facts. Fall 2010 will see the completion of a three year update to all handbooks and corresponding club materials.

The first handbook, HangGlider®, which arrived in 2008, begins a sequential journey through the Bible, starting with Genesis and ending with Joshua. WingRunner® Handbook, released in 2009, takes Sparkies on the next leg of the trip from Judges to the birth of Christ. In 2010, SkyStormer™ Handbook will bring the curriculum in for a landing, exploring Gods Word from the ministry of Christ to Revelation.

Before working in a handbook, all newcomers to Sparks will complete an entrance booklet – Flight 3:16 – that centers on the gospel message of John 3:16.

This was Lauryns first year in Truth and Training. I am especially proud of her and her determination. Throughout the year she missed a few meetings due to cold and flu. She was deteined to finish her book. She took the initiative to take her AWANA book to school and work on it during recess and sit outdirong game time at AWANA to get it done. She did exactly that...got caught up and completed not only the book, but proved to herself that if she puts her mind to something, with some hard work, she can accomplish anything. This is how the site describes T&T...

The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana to teach third- through sixth-grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow — today.

Four handbooks of increasing difficulty which teach children that life’s ultimate adventure is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

I talk about AWANA all the time because I believe it is so important for parents to get the Word of God in their childrens hearts early. They are sponges. The Bible say Gods word cannot/will not return void!!!! I love Isaiah 55:10-13

Peanut Butter Melt Bars

When I was little, the best after school snack was what we called a peanut butter melt. You would get a piece of bread, put peanut butter on it And place it in the oven till the peanut butter started to melt. Then you would pull it out top it with syrup and enjoy it with a glass of milk.
These bars remind me of my old time peanut butter melts.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup Karo syrup
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup peanut butter (next time I'll use crunchy)
3 1/2 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
3 cups Chocolate Cheerios

Directions:

Mix both syrups and brown sugar in heavy pan and heat till it bubbles.
Take off heat and add in peanut butter, stir until blended well.
Add Cheerios, mix well.
Put in a buttered cookie sheet and press hard with wax paper.
Place on fridge for about 20 minutes and the cut. Store in fridge if there are any left. ;)

Day 129/365: Blessed Mother's Day

Today was a blessed day. For those who know me know it's the little things that make my heart smile. So I was super grateful for being able to sleep in. Once I came out the girls were sitting quietly watching a movie, Allie was sleep in her highchair. Rich was MIA. The girls said he ran to the store, but insisted I not cook breakfast. There was a Teavana bag on the table, which blew my mind.

When Rich and I were out during his birthday in Febuary, we stumbled upon a store called Teavanna. I was smitten. I had since forgotten about getting the tea and the tea sets, inspite of my love for tea. Obviously Rich had not. There is nothing better than being "seen". Like I said, it's the little things that make my heart smile.
Rich shows up with breakfast and paper plates...since we have no hot water.

The rest of the day was quiet and relaxing. Ultimately today was blessed because I was surrounded by 5 people I think the world of.

Day 127/365: Big "Oh No"!!!!

Last night I planned on taking a nice long, hot bath. I put the girls to bed while my bubbles were running. When I got to my room to turn the water off I noticed the water was cold. I put my hand in the tub and it was ice water.

Today after my pest control guy sprayed he askes "did you know your water heater is leaking"??

Good news is the warranty company will replace the water heater. The bad news is there was some water damage, thankfully I caught I early so it was minimal.

Day 122/365: Lovin' my iPad

I am truly enjoying my iPad. Spent most of the day adding apps and playing with it.
Some of my favorite apps are...

Kindle...the layout is really nice and there are thousands of free books...

iBooks...I love the layout, a bit limited on authors bit I'm sure that will be corrected over time.

Numbers...an iPad version of Excel...works really well and allows me to create spreadsheets etc on my iPad.

ABC Player...this app rocks...I am able to watch some of my favorite shows whenever I want. Yeah...

Epicurious...the iPad layout again is phenomenal!!!! There are sone really good recipes I amnlooking forward to trying. The pictures make you hungry alone...I will be trying out quite a few of these recipes...

Wall Street Journal...this app makes reading the paper a totally new experience. Reminds me of the futuristic movies where you're able to read the paper and have a video play within it...love it!!!!

The girls and I have a tradition of having a "slumber party" the night before Rich gets back from traveling.
So tonight we made pizza (sweet pepper with turkey pepperoni...if you were wondering) and had S'mores for dessert. It was especially super yummy because I've been juicing all week.

Day 115/365: Juice pick me up

When I start feeling run down and tired, I know it's time to pull out my juicer.

One of my favorite recipes is the carrot apple-ade. I have to double the recipe because the girls drink it up. Yesterday we made it and then mixed in some frozen strawberries. It was so yummy.

Today I juiced about 3 handfuls of spinach, 2 pears, 4 carrots and handful of parsely.

After juicing, I mixed it in the blender with some frozen bananas.

The girls didn't care for it as much as the carrot apple-ade, but drank most of it.

Day 113/365: Phoenix Suns Lizard...

Last summer we had this lizard sun bathe between our fence everyday. He disappeared during the winter.
Today he made his debut. We all him our Phoenix Suns lizard because he is purple with an orange tail.

On another note we saw our first scorpion of the season. Not too happy about that. Thankful we always see them though.

Day 109/364: Ummm yeah...

Ummmmmmm yeah.... Well this is how my peppers turned out...

I think I gave them a bit too much love (water). I basically needed to water these dang things with a dropper to keep from drowning them. With my crazy, hectic life...that wasn't happ-nen.

My herbs are doing a tad bit better...they are still alive.
I transplanted them to a bigger container...we shall see what happens.

I have not given up inthe idea of having my own peppers, so will try out a mature pepper plant.

So far this green thumb thing is not my thing, bit I don't give on easily.

I will keep y'all posted...

Day 108/365: Home-made Peanut butter

Today I went to make Kris and Allie lunch and realized I was out of peanut butter. As of late that is one of the few things Allie will eat without acting like DaVinci.
So I rummaged thru the pantry and found a jar of honey roasted peanuts. Figured why not????

So I pulled out my handy Bullet blender, put about 1 1/2 cups of nus and 1/2 Tbsp of olive oil and let it blend. After about 2 mins I had some yummy peanut butter.
Who knew it would/could be that simple!!!! Rich loves cashews and I love almonds...those two are next on my list. Yay.

FYI: My snack for the day will be apples with peanut butter...home made that is. ;). yummy.

Day 107/365: The beginning of a blessed day

I went and got a few things at Safeway the other day. After looking over my reciept, which I'm trying to makes habit, I noticed I was overcharged for my facewash.
The face wash was on sale for $5.99. I had a $3 coupon and a $3 digital coupon, so it should have been free. I scanned for $8.23.
So when I went back to Safeway I grabbed 2 Ivory (3 pk) soaps which were on sale for $.99. I had a $.25 coupon. Since Safeway is making coupons at least $1, the soaps were free. I went to the counter for my transaction.
In the end I ended up getting the full $8.23 back that I was originally charged.

Walked out the store with 2 packs of soap, a package of Olay Regenerist cleansing cloths and an extra $8.23 in my wallet.

What a blessing!!!!

If you look at the reciept it shows a savings of 308%...now that's nice!!!!

Day 102/365: A new favorite summer treat!!!

So I am "trying" to be good...taming my sweet tooth y'all. I found these super yummy frozen treats.
They are only 55 calories, 0 fat, 13 carbs and 11 sugars.
It is made with pear purée, pear juice, white grape juice, sugar and boysenberry purée.

To top it of they were on sale last weekend and I added a coupon to the sale and snagged some for $.50!!!!!

Day 100/365: It's payday!!!

The girls love their "paydays". Around here they don't get paid with dolla dolla bills y'all.
We do an allowance/behavior recognition type thing. So every two week the girls get the coupons based on their age. Through the week they can get additional coupons by showing acts of kindness, generosity, lending a helping hand without being asked etc. On the other hand if they are speaking unkind words, their room isn't "neat" or their teeth are nasty...they pay me.
The girls can use their coupon two different ways. They can either us the coupon for face value, meaning what it says on the coupon (You can eat dessert before dinner or you can spend the whole day in your P.J.'s) or they can exchange each coupon for $1 to go towards something they are saving up for. They each have something they are saving up for, both long term or short term. They also put away for charitable and church.

Day 98/365: Guess what I got to do instead of cooking dinner????

Yes!!!!

I actually got to kick my feet up for a bit.

We had Whole Wheat Pizza Pockets with roasted pepers and mushrooms. These were part of my super cooking day, so I was able to pop them out of the freezer, into the oven and that was it. To be honest, it's been that way all week.

I am really enjoying the fruit of my labor. I will for sure be doing this again next month!!!!

I do think next month I will have to girls stay with my mom or have her come here. Just for my sanity and nerves... :) Although the older two actualy helped me...so we shall see...

As for right now...contemplating what I should pull out the freezer for dessert... :)

My type A personality has taken over...

I just could not stand having my coupons "unorganized" in the traditional coupon holders. It took forever for me to find the coupons I was looking for. I typically have multiple coupons for one item, so when the item is free or super cheap I can stock up until the next sale.

I saw a video on Living Rich With Coupons and loved the way she cut her coupons and stored them. Like her I don't cut all the coupons, only the ones I know will score great deal. Everything else I file, just in case it turns into a moneymaker somewhere...yes, you can make money sometimes!!!!!

Last month Rich and I were able to save over $1000 and spent less than $500. Many of the items we use everyday we were able to get free or super cheap.

To save time I use the Grocery Game. This service puts a list together of the sales going on at the stores you shop at. The shopping list comes out every Sunday and tells you exactly what coupon to use for each item. It saves a lot of time and money. The first store you choose is $10, each store after that is $5 up to a certain amount. I only get Safeway, Fry's and Walgreens. I do my own CVS list so I can learn the process myself.

I just joined A Full Cup, which is a free service which says it does the same thing as The Grocery Game. I just joined this week, so I have not compared yet, but there is some very good information on the site.

My goal this month is to spend less than what we spent last month, but get the same amount of food. I will keep y'all posted. ;)

I got a bucket full of free samples I requested!!

If you are not a member of Vocalpoint, you should. They send out free samples of a variety of items along with great coupons also. Today I recieved a free packet of Puffs To Go...perfect for my purse!!!

I also recieved a few free samples from Costco. I recieved a sample bar of Lever 2000 soap. I love the way it smells. I will save this for the next time we have guests come to visit.

I also recieved a sample of Nature Made Triple Flex Vitamins. I will be trying these for sure, because every now and then Arthritis tries to show his ugly head...

Strong Moms with Similac is a great program for those with little ones. They send out coupons for formula and some other items also. I recieved two samples of the Similac Advance and the Isomil Advance.

These 5 awesome people. They each challenge and bless me in their own way. They have each made me a better person and motivate me to become better and grow everyday. They love me inspite of my flaws and yucky-ness. My family...my desire is to bless them as much as they bless me everyday.

Day 92/365: Dinner time = Quality time... And April Freezer cooking tally

I wish there was a way for me to attach a video recorder to my kitchen table. I would say we spend the majority of our time in/or around the kitchen.
Weekend breakfasts are a family affair. Jasmyn and Kristyn start the morning out by taking everyones order. Whatever is most popular is what we have. There are certain things Rich "specializes" in and vice versa, but in the end weekend breakfasts never dissapoint!!!

We have a tradition for dinner time that I snagged from one of my favorite movies. During dinner we go around the table and tell about one good from our day and one bad. Just recently we started telling how we were a blessing in someone's life. I so love hearing how the girls try to bless those around them.
The picture from tonight is of Rich and Kristyn having a staring contest. It is so funny seeing Kristyn bug her eyes out so she doesn't blink. Lauryn helped her out tonight by distracting Rich. I love it. I am cherishing every moment.

I did successfully finish all my cooking and baking today. I ended up with...

I am glad to have that all done.

Day 91/365: April Freezer Cooking Day

I moved my super cooking day to today, because I wanted to relax with the family over the extended weekend. So I put my list together, looked at the grocery ads for who had sales on what, pulled my coupons together and headed out the door...with a baggie full of goldfish...Allie and Kristyn seem to get hungry around all the food options. :)
I have to interject the fact that I love my iPhone. After loading the girls in the car, but before pulling out of the garage I reserved two movies for the girls to watch while I cooked.

Fast forward to 10:30 pm, I managed to get everything cooked except for my desserts and the preserves. So I will make the faux apple blossoms, mini chocolate cheesecakes and the preserves tomorrow, which should go quickly.

Rich took the girls to In-n-Out for dinner while I finished up. I am eating a hamburger bun hot out the oven...wish I had some preserves to put on top.

All in all, dinner time around here will be much more relaxing for me...which is good. More time enjoy the blessings around me....and maybe put away some laundry. J/k. :)

Today Lauryn made my heart shine. We had some of the girls classmates cone over to play. When their mom came to pick them up I noticed their brother asking Lauryn for a hi five. Lauryn's response was so cool. She said " I don't give no dudes hi fives except my daddy"!!! She didn't say it in a snobbish way, just matter of factly.

As time passes I know this response will change. But today...it is what it is, and my heart is full.

This recipe is from Weight Watchers and is a keeper!!!!!
For sure!!!!

Mini Chocolate Cheesecakes with Chocolate Crusts.

These cheesecakes are only 3 points in Weight Watchers or 150 calories/5 grams of fat, your pick!
Ingredients:
12 item(s) chocolate wafer(s), about 2 1/2 oz ( I substituted with the new chocolate cheerios)
8 oz Neufchatel cheese, softened
1 cup(s) fat free milk
2/3 cup(s) sugar
2 envelope(s) unflavored gelatin
3 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1 cup(s) water, boiling
Directions:
Line 12 muffin tins with paper muffin liners or you can use the silicon kind. They are at JoAnn's for about $10. Place a wafer in the bottom of each of 12 muffin tins (or custard cups); set aside. If the wafer doesn’t fit in bottom of muffin liners, break into pieces to cover bottom.
Blend cheese in food processor or blender until loose. While blending, pour in milk.
In a separate medium bowl, mix together sugar, gelatin and cocoa with a fork or spoon. Slowly add boiling water, mixing as you go; mix quickly until gelatin has completely dissolved.
Pour cocoa mixture into blender with cheese mixture while blending, blend for about 1 minute. Fill each muffin liner (or custard cup) to the top, about 1/3 cup of cheese mixture. Chill for at least 2 hours. Yields 1 per serving.
You can make them in advance and store them in the fridge.

I used this in my hair last night as a moisturizer and then sealed my ends with some Proclaim Oil. After my workout this morning I took my braids down and my hair was super duper soft and moist. Did I say super enough times??? Well good, because it is.

Ingredients
1 can of Progresso Light Zesty Santa Fe Style Chicken soup ("I love me some" tortilla soup)
1 Tbsp Guacamole (I used Wholly Guacamole, which was free at Fry's a few weeks ago, (clip those coupons people) I so love me some guacamole)
1 Tbsp of sour cream (I used the reduced fat Smart Balance sour cream with Omega 3's...gotta love it. It is on sale at Fry's right now and if you clipped your coupon it is only 35 cents...so yummy too)
2 Tbsp of salsa (love me some heat...oh yeah the extra vegis are good too...)

Directions:

1. I heated the whole can, which is only 2 weight watcher points or 160 calories, 2 g of fat, 12 g of carbs, 2 g of fiber and 5 g of protien...yay!!!

2. Then I scooped the guacamole (30 cal, 2.5 g of good fat, 1 g of fiber, and .5 g of protein), sour cream (25 cal, 1.5 fat) and the salsa stirred or up and devoured it.

And that's what was for lunch.

So my girlfriend at slapthebull.blogspot.com planted a garden last fall. She would post about making a salad with items she grew, which I thought was awesome. I would so love to grow a garden with all the things I enjoy cooking and baking with, but my backyard does not allow for such awesome-ness... :)

So I'm gonna settle for growing a few of the herbs I cook with the most and hot peppers, because we love Mexican food. Haven't started sprouting them yet...need to finish the dresses first...lol.

Went out with the girls today and found some great deals on games at Walmart. The Hungry Hungry Hippos games were $5.29. I had two coupons for $4 dollars off. So ended up paying $1.29 for each. The monopoly and scrabble games were $4.17 at Walmart. There was a online printable coupon for $4 off the monopoly card game. I also clipped a coupon on the weekend USA Today for buy 2 get one free. So I bought 2 monopoly card games and one scrabble. Paid less than $.50 including tax. I gave one ofthe monopoly games to my mom which is why its not in the picture. It was a good outing.

Memory verse (for a while) :)

There is so much wisdom to be gained from Proverbs. I truly love reading them...especially when I need a personal "counseling" session.
I try to read a proverb a day. Since there are 31 I usually get through the book once a month. My bible is the NIV translation. With life being so busy at times, I listen to the bible on my iPhone. I absolutely love The Daily Audio Bible podcast. This is my 4th year listening to it, and there is always something fresh and new each year. Basically Brian reads thru the bible each year. Each day he reads from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. There is also Daily Audio Bible for kids, which the girls listen to before scholl, and have come to remind me if I forget to put it on. Lol. They also have Daily Audio Proverb. With Daily Audio Proverb, Brian reads thru various translations. When he read this translation on the 16th I loved it and it spoke to me on various levels.

So for the next few weeks I am going to work at memorizing thus passage.

I love free...I think everyone does. I also live the Johnson's Buddies soap!!!! It makes bath time so much easier. The soap is covered in a type of mesh that allows the girls to lather up indepentently, which they love.

These are .97 at Target. Coupons.com had a Johnson and Johnson coupon for $1...which equalledfree for me!!!! Between printing from coupons.com and the Subday paper I got 7 free. I had 2 coupons left so I got the swabs. They are $1.37 at Target so I only paid $.37 each.

68/365 Roasted mushroom and red pepper calzone

It's what's for dinner!!!

Ingredients:

1 pkg of refridgerated pizza dough

1 cup pasta sauce

1 cup of cheese of your choice

1 pkg pre-sliced mushrooms

1 bell pepper (diced)

1 Tbsp olive oil

1 Tbsp Rosemary

Directions

1. Add Olive Oil to skillet and warm.

2. Add bell pepper and cook till tender, about 5 min

3. Add sliced mushrooms, cook for an additional 5 min

4. Roll out pizza dough and cut in half

5. Put 4 Tbsp of pasta sauce, cheese, mushrooms and peppers onto each half.

6. Fold the dough over to make a pocket and crimp the ends with a fork

7. Bake according to package direction

Great mid-week dinner!!!!

They turned out kind of big so we were able to cut them in half, which was plenty...considering we had molten lava cakes for dessert!!!!! :)

67/365 God cares about our "little things"

One of my prayers for 2010 was that I would become a better steward of my finances.
One way I implemented this was by using coupons for groceries. On Sunday I was able to save $195 and stick to the list I went into the store with, something I would never have been able to accomplish last year. All I can say is God is faithful and he cares about EVERY area of our lives.
I am so glad I've been able to get this area of my life in order and am enjoying all the deals I am finding. Most of all I am thankful for the savings and being able to line myself up with Gods will for my finances.

Sunday after church everybody wanted the Hawiian Bread French toast. It was sooo yummy lasttime I couldn't refuse...lol.
I had some of the strawberry topping left over from Saturday so I added that inthe egg mixture. It gave the French toast a faint strawberry taste. The strawberries on top were a perfect compliment.

Day 63/365: My quick version of apple blossoms

We love to talk and laugh it up at dinner time, and dessert after dinner is a great excuse to extend that time. That's my excuse for typically serving some kind of treat after dinner. ;)
Tonight, I threw together a quick version of apple blossoms which consisted of
Grand biscuits,
4 granny smith apples,
brown sugar,
cinnamon,
nutmeg,
dash of salt and lemon juice.
I topped the blossoms with quick cooking oats (for fiber, lol), and served it with a dollop of Trader Joes vanilla ice cream. Everybody loved it, especially Rich!!! Maybe I can get a back rub out of this one. ;$
I will make this again, maybe with some varitions.

Day 62/365: I love sending my girls to AWANAS!!!!

I truly look forward to Wednesday nights. Not because I get the house to myself for the better part of the evening, although that ranks as a close second. Lol. Wednesdays are the days I take the girls to Awanas. Awanas is similar to a girls scouts or boys scouts, however at Awanas the children are encouraged to memorize scripture in order to earn badges and prizes. Knowing that my children are hiding Gods word in their hearts is wonderful. Knowing that Gods word will never return void, gives me a peace that surpasses understanding. There will be times I will not be there to guide or instruct my girls, but Gods word will...and that is why I so love and enjoy Awanas and Wednesday nights.

Day 61/365: Whole wheat slider buns

Today I made hamburger buns to go along with our buffalo sliders. The house smelled sooo yummy....
The hamburger buns at the store are too big for sliders and we always make the "mini-burgers". These were pretty simple and everyone loved them so they are definately a keeper. I modified a recipe I found on allrecipes.com. Here is a link to the original.

Hamburger Buns

Ingredients
1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 (.25 ounce) package instant yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 egg
Directions
In a small saucepan, heat milk, water and butter until very warm, 120 degrees F (50 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix together 1 3/4 cup flour, yeast and salt. Mix milk mixture into flour mixture, and then mix in egg. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
Divide dough into 24 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls, and place on a greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly. Cover, and let rise for 30 to 35 minutes.
Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
For Hot Dog Buns: Shape each piece into a 6x4 inch rectangle. Starting with the longer side, roll up tightly, and pinch edges and ends to seal. Let rise about 20 to 25 minutes. Bake as above.

Memory verse for the week

This passage reminds me that if God is for me, I can achieve what seems impossible to those who are trying to accomplish in life without Him.
There seems to be a consistent theme in the verses God has lead me to the past few weeks.

If I choose to trust in Him, not only will He give me peace in the midst of the trails of life, but he will sustain me and make me a success.

Day 60/365 Pizzaria DeGraff-o :)

Before Lauryn and I went on our date Saturday, we went to the library and I found this wonderful cookbook called "Gourmet" in the Friends section. I was soooo excited. I had been planing our menu for the next few weeks and wanted to try making homemade pizza dough (inspired by my trip to Pizzaria Bianco on Rich's birthday) and homemade hamburger buns, along with a few other yummy things!!!!!

The first thing I looked up was pizza and began to read (yes I read cookbooks too lol). I could not believe what I was reading...they were refrencing Chris Bianco, owner and maker of the best pizza in the US. They were also giving some of his tips. Then came the humdinger...the recipe they use at Pizzaria Bianco. I was fit to be tied...in a good way!!!!

Long story short everyone loved the pizza and I will be pre-making this dough so I can have some on hand.

I also made some "Morning Glory's" with some moderations and some yummy "Bran" muffins also. I will post the recipe along with my moderations on my Naturally Recipes blog.

I plan on making some sweet potato marshmallow muffins today. Ohhhh so yummy!!!!

Day 59/365 I'm in love!!!

I absolutely love this conditioner!!!! I grabbed this conditioner the other day while I was at Walgreens. I typicaly buy "Hello Hydration", because living in the desert it is very difficult to keep my hair moist and happy. This whole line was on sale for 3 for $10 so I figured I would try this one as well.
Typically I do a deep condition on Saturdays. Since Lauryn and I had a date, I just washed my hair and then slathered it with this yummy pink stuff. I then put my hair up in a bun and was off for the date. I didn't take my bun out till now (Sunday afternoon), after church. OMGoodness!!!! My hair was soooo soft, and smelled so good. I didn't have to spend any time detangling either. I will definately add this conditioner to my hair regime.

Day 57/365 Good thing I didn't post right after I left the fabric store!!!!!

PART I

It really is a good thing I didn't post right after I left the fabric store because my head was swimming and my stress level was well past 10.
I have yet to comprehend how and why there are sooo many types of fabrics and soooo many various colors and patterns. I mean what is Calico, Damask, Poplin, Seersuker, Jacquards????? I know Cotton, Satteen, Silk, Linen...even Eyelet, but goodness gracious. I will say, if you do know how to sew, you can make basically anything, in any color or pattern in more fabrics than you can count on your fingers and toes. Put me in a Sur La Table, or Williams Sanoma and I'm in heaven with the options, but this clothing thing is new to me. In spite of that my head is still spinning. I did manage to find a few pieces I liked for myself, Ally and Kristyn. I am going to go back with Lauryn and Jasmyn...some other day!!!!

PART II

So when I left the store I was beyond frustraded and discouraged. On the way home, I backtracked in my mind how I got here???? I mean really???? Both Khols and JC Penny are haveing sales...I could easily just go pick out 4 dresses that match as close as possible and call it a day. I truly don't remember why I decided to make these darn dresses. The drive was a blur...until I got to the street headed toward my house... I was greeted by a P.S. I love you from my one and only Jesus Christ. I spotted a coyote on the opposite street. In spite of living in this area for over 4 years, I am still amazed when I see "wild" animals wandering about!!!!
Since the road toward my house is not busy I stopped the car and took a picture.

I still smile thinking about it. The coyote seemed to stop and pose...I'm sure he was wandering what the heck I was doing, but I was grateful.

PART III

So one thing I am not is easily defeated. So I decided to go back to the fabric store...except this time I had 4 kids with me instead of two...yes, the first trip had officially fried my brain.
So we walk in and immediatley we see something we like, so we go over to it. Lauryn immediatley picks a pink fabric and Jasmyn picks the exact same one...except it is violet. Then Kristyn says "ohh this is pretty", I turn around and she is pointing at the exact same pattern except it was...light blue!!!! Thank you Jeeeessssssssuuuuuuuuuussssssss!!!!!
Could it get any better?????
Yes!!!!!
I look in the same area and fin a light green on for baby girl Ally! Hallelujer!!!!!! I am doing the happy dance in JoAnns!!!

The girls are so excited. I am too!!!
I must say, my God is good. To put the icing on the cake, after averaging my total the dresses cone out to be $18.00 each. Doing the hallelujer dance again.
I know there will be days when it won't turn out like this, but my scripture for the week puts it perfectly...I will trust in the Lord with all my heart. I won't lean to my own understanding, I will acknowledge him in all my way and I know he will make my paths straight.

Day 56/365 I'm making Easter dresses!!!????

5 dresses, 38 days, 1 beginner seamstress...can it be done????? I pray it can...I'm sure it can!!!! Lol. Especially with my mom helping me. These dresses were so cute and I loved the idea of all of us matching for Easter, but with our own little flavor.
My plan is for Kristyn and Allisyn to wear the dress above. Jasmyn and Lauryn will wear a different dress but with some similarities. I will have my own, again with some similarities a well . We are taking a trip to the fabric store to pick out the color dresses we want. I am really excited, I would be a lot more hesitant if my mom wasn't helping me. She made matching outfits for my dad, sister and herself one Easter. Not only that, she tweaked the design to her liking. I remember her always talking about opening her own store with her own fashion designs...I know that is a dream that is in the making.

So, 5 dresses, 38 days, sounds easy enough...right?????

Today at AWANAS the kids learned about ch ch choices. Life is full of choices and the consequences that go with them. During game time the kids had to chew a grape and marshmallow and see which team was able to finish quickest...it was gross and funny all at the same time.

Being an Arizona native, I love the rain!!!! It is not rare to see Arizonans outside playing an splashing in the rain. This year we have gotten more than normal and I am loving it!!!! You can see as the mood changes in the sky and you know the action is coming.

Day 51: 365 days of photos: Breakfast at Matt's Big Breakfast

With it being Rich's birthday weekend we decided to go try another one of Downtown Phoenix hot spot restaurants. We settled on Matt's Big Breakfast.
I think we lost our minds because we ended up waiting about a hour in the rain. Once we got inside it was much better. The small diner set up was very basic, but the service was great. The food for me was ok...but being a "breakfast person" it's very difficult to impress me with breakfast.
That said Rich and I had a wonderful weekend. We will finish off the weekend with cake and ice cream with the girls.

Tonight I took Rich to Pizzaria Bianco fo his birthday. The atmosphere is very laid back...perfect for uniterupted conversation and blogging???? Well there is a 3 1/2 hour wait so we are talking and playing on our phones at the same time. Lol.

Today's photo is of my first attempt at overnight cinnomon rolls. I'm making them for Rich's birthday breakfast. Nothing is better than waking up to the smell of "yummy-ness" in the oven. I used Food Networks Alton Browns recipe with some modifications. I made mine with whole wheat flour. Instead of using buttermilk, I made my own with chocolate milk (to make your own buttermilk put 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice in a measuring cup, fill the remainder with milk up to the 1 cup line. Let sit for 5 minutes and stir).

Below is the Alton Brown recipe.

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
Dough:
4 large egg yolks, room temperature
1 large whole egg, room temperature
2 ounces sugar, approximately 1/4 cup
3 ounces unsalted butter, melted, approximately 6 tablespoons
6 ounces buttermilk, room temperature
20 ounces all-purpose flour, approximately 4 cups, plus additional for dusting
1 package instant dry yeast, approximately 2 1/4 teaspoons
1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
Vegetable oil or cooking spray
Filling:
8 ounces light brown sugar, approximately 1 cup packed
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Pinch salt
3/4-ounce unsalted butter, melted, approximately 1 1/2 tablespoons
Icing:
2 1/2 ounces cream cheese, softened, approximately 1/4 cup
3 tablespoons milk
5 1/2 ounces powdered sugar, approximately 1 1/2 cups
Directions
For the dough: in the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, whisk the egg yolks, whole egg, sugar, butter, and buttermilk. Add approximately 2 cups of the flour along with the yeast and salt; whisk until moistened and combined. Remove the whisk attachment and replace with a dough hook. Add all but 3/4 cup of the remaining flour and knead on low speed for 5 minutes. Check the consistency of the dough, add more flour if necessary; the dough should feel soft and moist but not sticky. Knead on low speed 5 minutes more or until the dough clears the sides of the bowl. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface; knead by hand about 30 seconds. Lightly oil a large bowl. Transfer the dough to the bowl, lightly oil the top of the dough, cover and let double in volume, 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl. Mix until well incorporated. Set aside until ready to use.
Butter a 9 by 13-inch glass baking dish. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. Gently shape the dough into a rectangle with the long side nearest you. Roll into an 18 by 12-inch rectangle. Brush the dough with the 3/4-ounce of melted butter, leaving 1/2-inch border along the top edge. Sprinkle the filling mixture over the dough, leaving a 3/4-inch border along the top edge; gently press the filling into the dough. Beginning with the long edge nearest you, roll the dough into a tight cylinder. Firmly pinch the seam to seal and roll the cylinder seam side down. Very gently squeeze the cylinder to create even thickness. Using a serrated knife, slice the cylinder into 1 1/2-inch rolls; yielding 12 rolls. Arrange rolls cut side down in the baking dish; cover tightly with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator overnight or up to 16 hours.
Remove the rolls from the refrigerator and place in an oven that is turned off. Fill a shallow pan 2/3-full of boiling water and set on the rack below the rolls. Close the oven door and let the rolls rise until they look slightly puffy; approximately 30 minutes. Remove the rolls and the shallow pan of water from the oven.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
When the oven is ready, place the rolls on the middle rack and bake until golden brown, or until the internal temperature reaches 190 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer, approximately 30 minutes.
While the rolls are cooling slightly, make the icing by whisking the cream cheese in the bowl of a stand mixer until creamy. Add the milk and whisk until combined. Sift in the powdered sugar, and whisk until smooth. Spread over the rolls and serve immediatly.

Today was just one of those days...I just wanted to crawl back into bed and pull the covers over my head. A hot bubble bath always does the trick for me, so after I dropped the girls off at AWANAS, I headed home anticipating a hot bubble bath.
It was just what the doctor ordered. Now off to dreamland. Praying blessings for tomorrow and the peace of God to greet me in the morning.

I believe God hides love notes for each and every one of us throughout our day. We just have to be conscious and alert to be able to notice them.

The other day we decided to have In-N-Out for dinner. As we were driving along, Rich was telling me about his day. As he was talking, I caught my breath and Rich nearly swerved off the road thinking he was about to hit something, due to my reaction. He asked me what was wrong and I said in amazement..." look how beautiful the moon is tonight"!!!! Rich couldn't believe I would have such a reaction over the moon...lol, but I knew God had hung it there just for me to see that night. I am always amazed, comforted and intrigued by what God created with just His breath.
The picture above was the love note that greeted me on my morning walk today.

For Valentines Day I gave Rich a foot love basket, full of foot salts, foot lotions, socks and more.
Mondays we have "mini" date nights when we watch 24, so tonight I pulled out our foot spa and told Rich to sit back and relax.
I think he really loves Valentines!!!!
